Description
Ancient people of the Americas experienced the buffalo as a living, sacred expression of nature. Perhaps that understanding is slowly re-emerging on today's smaller ranches, such as this one in Boulder County, at the foot of the Front Range Mountains in Longmont, Colorado.
Buffalo, also called bison, have a deep, quiet strength, and you pause to reflect that once the great plains region was covered with huge herds.
Joel created this work in his signature neo-impressionist style, to express the vital energy of ancient animals who still grace our planet with their presence.

Growing up around buffalo and having them close by when I was in Colorado, was the life I knew for most of my life. These last twenty plus years in California makes me have to go visit them when I can. Just to get a fix. Gorgeous work Joel.

Such a fascinating artwork, with all the textures. When I look at these buffalo I see much texture, and within all that fur are the symbolic layers of centuries of their challenges and triumphs. They are the survivors and it is always so inspiring to see them.l/f

Beautiful work Joel. There used to be some up by Genosee Park or Idaho Springs at one time. They are the animals I grew up to admire and be most careful around.
