Plants grow towards the sun, where they find nourishment that fulfills them. This may be a metaphor that shows us that we, too, are ever moving towards the light, in whatever way we comprehend that radiant spark, shining within everything in the universe.
Joel created this richly textured and vividly colored flora abstract in his signature neo-impressionist style, to express the instincts of the plant kingdom to move towards the light, and even perhaps towards the celestial realms.
